Privacy Policy

Studiq ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that helps students capture notes, record lectures, and use AI tools to study more effectively. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Studiq, we collect:

• Account information — your name and email address when you create an account.
• Photos — images you take or import of your notes and study materials.
• Audio recordings — lecture recordings you create inside the app.
• App usage data — class folders, titles, and timestamps you create within the app.
• Device token — a push notification token so we can send you transcript-ready alerts.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To sync your notes, photos, and recordings across your devices.
• To transcribe lecture audio into text using AI.
• To generate AI summaries, flashcards, and answers to your study questions.
• To scan and extract text from photos of your notes.
• To send you push notifications when a transcript is ready.
• To send transactional emails (verification codes, account deletion confirmations).

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

Studiq uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database storage, and file storage.
• OpenAI — lecture audio transcription.
• Anthropic — AI summaries, flashcards, study chat, and photo text extraction.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Expo — push notification delivery.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Your content is sent to these services solely to provide the features described above.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure. Access is restricted to your account only — other users cannot access your class folders, photos, or recordings. We use Firebase Authentication to secure your account.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our servers, including all class folders, photos, audio recordings, and transcripts. This action cannot be undone.

6. Children's Privacy

Studiq is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Studiq after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
